This was Raleigh/Durham this morning, over 500 collisions reported, regardless this wind is brutal

Buy stock in area auto body shops Grin Chatham 911 FB has some photos posted that will give folks idea of what it looked like out and about this morn. Dare say the side roads STILL look the same.

Wow ~ I looked at the roads on Chatham 911 FB, definitely looks slippery.  My daughter in Apex told me the roads did clear up today, but black ice

Glad they do that as for sure no TV stations cover Chatham Co. You can see what's going on in ski Roxboro, Fayetteville, Johnston Co., Raleigh, Durham but it's like Chatham doesn't exist!

In this sort of thing I worry about the guys with the 4x4s that think that getting going is the same as stopping and it's not.

That's a fact.  I swear the weather forecasters seem to have no idea what is going on.

At least 4 in. of 'dusting' so far Grin I'm wanting a light wind to come in to shake some of this stuff off trees. Already had some lights blinking. Sure hope they don't miss the mark on temps to soon follow to get rid of this stuff. Going to seize up tonight with temps in teens though.

Due to reported weather-related power outages in some areas of the county and temperatures predicted to be in the teens tonight, Chatham County will open a shelter for residents who need a warm place to stay this evening. The Chatham County Council on Aging’s Eastern Senior Center in Pittsboro will open at 5 PM tonight to receive people. The center is located at 365 NC 87, Pittsboro, just north of the roundabout.
Residents are encouraged to call 919-545-8164 in advance to let staff know you are coming. Be advised that travel on roads is very hazardous, so keep that in mind when deciding to use the shelter. If you come, please bring food, water, medications, toiletries and other important personal items. Pets are not allowed at this shelter.
The wet snow has accumulated on power lines and tree limbs, which triggered some power outages. This problem should be temporary as snow melts or falls off surfaces and power companies are able to restore power.

My 'doppler' knee, elbow and hip meter is more accurate than any of TV forecasters Grin and watching what the birds are doing...they are in the know! TV weather folks should have to wear a bag over their faces in the morning, lol!
