I just wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to the current administration and his cohorts. I just received my latest BCBS announcement regarding the renewal of my premium and coverage for the upcoming year. Without their foresight, guidance, concern and compassion for others, the affordable care act is making a difference.

I guess I should be thankful as the cost only went up 60% for a family of three.....the increase alone is $700.00 PER MONTH!!! What the heck, that is only an extra $8,400 per year that I could have spent on something else.

Ahhh...........the joys of being self-employed and having to provide everything for ourselves.

I feel for you.  I'm no longer self-employed, and not really looking forward to enrollment starting next week.  My every-other-week contribution went up considerably for the current year, and deductible increased to $4,000.  I'm wondering what my wife and I will get hit with next week for coverage next year.

I've often said that I think the ACA was meant to hasten the demise of insurance based healthcare rather than be a legitimate fix to the problems in the industry.  I think we could very well be seeing the beginnings of the death spiral caused by it.  We're told that premiums are skyrocketing because the financial math behind it didn't work in that not enough "healthy" people enrolled paying hefty premiums.  People are selecting catestrophic or lower end coverage because they can't afford the outrageous premiums.  Then we are seeing people choosing to not get care when they need it because they can't afford the deductibles, which in turn causes the costs to go up because acute cases become expensive emergencies ... and the wheels of the bus go round and round.

Notice the former-ACA pushers around here have sorta segued away from that and instead toward bemoaning the lack of Medicaid availability.

Obamacare was supposed to fix all the things it has made worse, as itemized by folks on this board, but UNC70 wants us to believe Medicaid is the answer for that.

They're becoming fewer.  Same with Docs that will take Medicare patients.

That's OK - we'll just import more from Pahk-e-stan and Somalia.
