For those of you fed up with the Cole Park Subway...over priced bad food, imo...try the deli at Harris Teeter. They offer sub sandwiches at reasonable prices and have daily specials as well. A half a sandwich is more than filling...unlike subway where they strive to put as little on the bun as possible.
In the "slim pickins" North Chatham area...I've added the HT deli to my list of options.
While you're there, link your VIC card to Northwood...or school of your choice.

I don't know why they haven't been reported to the corporate headquarters. I know of one person from the Thrift Shop that went to get lunch, they charged him for each topping they put on his sub, his lunch was over 10.00!

I didn't realize they had been over charging me until I went to the one in Pittsboro and ordered our usual and it was 2.50 cheaper.....times all the times we ate there...it adds up.
I havent' set foot in there in over a year and don't plan to ever again.

they also do not do any of the advertised specials like 3 foot longs for 10.99 on certain days of the week or whatever. I was in CH this summer for July 3 and got 3 foot longs for like 10.99 and mentioned to them that the local one near us did not do any of the advertised specials and they were shocked; said that some were optional, but some were not. Never got around to calling the 800# they pointed out on the napkins. Agree wtih meg, never go up to the subway at cole park either any more.
Have gotten subs at HT before while at track meets before, although not at the Chatham HT. There were tasty. They also have a program where if you buy a certain number of subs you get one free or something (it will be at the bottom of your HT receipt, like how they track your free luggage or whatever giveaway they are working on); i know our receipt has something about we have 4 points in the sub club. We don't do subs enough to have ever earned anything free and I don't know if the points expire.

I like the folks over at Village Pizza, but their subs are tiny. I'll try the HT deli next time I'm over there. I think a sports bar that had take out would be great in Chatham Crossing.

Micheals? Not if you paid me. The service is terrible. It's smoky and the food is mediocre at best. Then there's the guy at the end of the bar who ogles my 13 year old daughter the few times we went for a soda. (Sunday a.m., everything else was closed, doing the now defunct PTA drop box). Place creeps me out.

And I didn't even mention the health rating. Thanks Gene. I've been in the business for 20 years and you have to be pretty dirty to get an 84. Because of what I know, we don't eat at anything w/o an A rating. A low A, 90-92, is still pretty hard to get. The inspectors don't want to put anyone out of business, but they do usually try to help out. Also, the restaurant KNOWS when it is due to be inspected and that's what's even scarier. They usually get the place really clean before inspection time...we used to know down to the week that we were scheduled. Obviously, someone at Michael's doesn't really care. I heard they were going out of business anyway.

Gonewest-I'm laughing. Most of what you say is true about Michael's. But somehow my husband and I have managed to survive eating there. I like the (overworked and surely under-tipped) waitresses. The owner is nice too. "the guy at the end of the bar who ogles my 13 year old daughter " is totally creepy. No matter which "guy" it is. When my daughter was younger I rarely took her there.
The wing night special is pretty darn good and it's the closest "sports bar" to us. Sometimes we like to go out and watch a game with dinner. Some nights we're just too tired to deal with Chapel Hill bar/restaurants, so we go to Michael's.
We had eaten there the night before the latest inspection! I nearly fell out of my chair when I read that a couple of weeks ago.
GW-you also have a food business?
