Mt. Carmel area of Chatham County early this morning. PLEASE PASS THIS INFO ALONG!!! Attached is a photo of similar vehicle reported stolen during these break-ins

This ALERT is to notify the Mount Carmel Community as well as surrounding communities of several Break-In’s that took place between the hours of Midnight and 5:00am this morning (07-27-2010) along Bayberry Drive off of Mount Carmel Road in Orange County. In each instance the time frame was between 12:00 Midnight and 5:00am. In most cases only vehicles were gone through. At least two homes were entered while the residents were asleep. In one such incident the family car was stolen. I have included an attachment with this vehicle description as well as the tag number. This is a unique vehicle and should be easily spotted. Pass this along to those on your address book and let us know if you see anything in your neighborhood that brings rise to suspicion. Remember NEVER approach a suspicious situation. Call 911 and let us check it out if you see a vehicle matching this description in your neighborhood.

Stolen during a break-in @ 321 Bayberry Road between the hours of 00:00 and 05:00 on July 27th

2005 Toyota Sion XP
Burgundy in Color with NC Tag STL-9997
Front fender is loose and there is black duct tape on the rear door handle

Is this a new sheriff's office policy, to send out emails like this?  How did you get on the list to receive them, or was this like spam, arriving blindly?

Yes, that's correct. As a Neighborhood Watch Coordinator, I receive these from the Sheriff's office and then pass it on to all of my neighbors. I thought that with a good BOLO with tag number, the BBS would be a good place to post it also. We all must be as vigilant as the law allows to stop these scumbags from taking what we have worked so hard for. Also, the Sheriff's office is always open to phone calls about ANYTHING you think may be suspicious. Keep your eyes open! Jimmy
