There has been a sign out in front saying "Cash Only" I did not pay attention to the place this morning.

There is orange fencing up so you can't get into their parking lots.  There is a sign on the door, but I can't read it.  There were people sitting out front last night on my way home from work.  HHHMMM???

A few weeks ago I drove by and their marquee said something like "please buy a beer to save the bar, cash only."  Within a few days first part was gone, leaving the "cash only"

With (future) I-540 crossing Hwy 64 just a few miles east, seems like Iron Horse (aka The Little Bar) would be in a prime location if they can survive till it opens.  The place is practically an institution (for better or worse), so not sure what has changed recently to put them in dire straits.  Wonder if they are simply making upgrades/repairs to the parking?

It's listed on Craig's List....

A friend of mine, who rides a Harley, said it used to be a decent bar, but then a college-type kid bought it and tried to make it semi-sports-bar-ish.  Maybe that owner is trying to unload it.  Seem inexpensive.

You know, I never went there but driving by it on a nearly daily basis, I saw what used to be a relatively low-key biker bar try to transform itself into a "destination" with a big outdoor stage, a semi-trailer backed up to the place and used as extra space, and other "attractions."  I wondered what the original clientele thought of that.

$35K to "buy the business"... guessing the land/building is leased?  Also guessing the lease-rate will go up significantly when I-540 interchange opens.

I knew there were at least two co-owners... a guy and a woman who worked the bar most nights.  I don't frequent the Little Bar, but I have several musician friends who played there regularly.  They said the woman was super-friendly and always made them feel welcome... seemed to really enjoy working there.  The guy was rarely around and very slow about returning calls or emails (if ever).

If this business was on the north side of the highway, it would be a freakin' gold mine once I-540 interchange is open.  As it stands now, potential customers traveling west on Hwy 64 (on their way home from work) have to drive past the bar and do a u-turn to get to it.  A similar maneuver is required to get back on 64 headed west.

Maybe the new owner's of the business should consider reopening as a breakfast place:  "The Little Iron Skillet"

Hardly any of the regulars go there anymore, and that killed the bar.

Apparently they got wind of the concerns because this morning their marquee said "we're open"
