per WRAL banner:
A phone system outage in Pittsboro has knocked out Chatham County’s 911 system. Residents needing to report an emergency should call one of these numbers until phone service is restored: 919-548-4280, 919-548-1707 or 919-548-1300. Officials ask that people don't use these numbers for non-emergency issues.

E911 Back in Service After Pittsboro Phone Outage Repaired
Posted Date: 2/17/2010
Chatham County residents with an emergency can once again contact 911 for assistance. Chatham County Emergency Communications reports that the 911 system is functioning normally again.

A major phone system outage affecting the entire Pittsboro area and the E911 emergency system had impacted the system this morning, but has been repaired.

What's so funny about peace, love, and understanding?
