Brrrr is the forecast for Friday night playoffs

Two Henderson County high schools host second-round playoff games Friday night as a new cold front brings some of the coldest weather of the year.

Second seed East Henderson High School hosts 10th seed Mount Pleasant and Hendersonville High School, a third seed, hosts sixth seed Siler City Jordan-Matthews in the 2-A and 1-A playoffs.

“It’s getting colder and colder on the model run for Friday afternoon,” said Paul Speranza, a local weather forecaster and owner of Speranza’s Weather House in downtown Hendersonville. “It will be hot chocolate night for sure.”

“You’re going to be playing like you are up in Buffalo. Looks like this Arctic air will be rushing right down,” he said.

The cold front could bring 2-3 inches of snow to the west-facing slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Tennessee line, he said.

The front itself is coming through late Thursday night early Friday morning, once again a flurry possible, 2-3 inches of snow on west facing slopes.

“You’re looking at highs in the mid 30s and winds will be gusting probably 15 to 25 mph, with higher gusts, making your wind chill in the teens and 20s and you know what happens once that sun goes down. It’s going to be really really cold so the kids are going to have quite a workout out there. It’s going to be quite a game to keep that ball in their hands because it’s going to be windy and it’s going to be cold.”

My kids loved seeing the snow this morning. They even got enough up to make a couple of snowballs.

It was pretty coming down, not enough "stickum" here to make a snowball, just enough to make kitter not want to go out without a "boot" on the butt after he was begging to go out laugh

There was a bunch more the closer I got to the Triad. I can still see a patch or two hanging around.

Shame on you Randy, you could have bought the car a day earlier, tested the gas mileage AND the heated seats and gone to the game and at least cheered the team on from the parking lot laugh
