NHS Athletic Booster Club meeting is this Tuesday, Nov 18th, 7:00, in the Cafeteria. If you have students who play sports at NHS you should be part of this organization! We are only 1 year old and already have bought uniforms for several teams, paid for training for several coaches and paid for coaches and teams in regional competition! We have lots more to do! We need your input and help in organizing fundraising for athletics at NHS. We will be discussing the renovation of the Fieldhouse which will be occurring in the near future and we need lots of help to make this happen. Please.... if you have and interest or talent to help WE NEED YOU! Please come and support NHS Athletic Boosters! You student athlete needs you!

Do the Boosters have any (other than concessions) plans for our (NHS) second round playoff game this Friday?
Did not see any activity for the first game, may have missed it?
Thanks

will you post minutes somewhere? I again (it is Tues after all) have 3 different places that I would like to be, but can only be in 1 place (this meeting, GS training I must have, and PHS PTA mtg).

Who is responsible for the athletic content on the sign at the entrance to NHS? It still had last weeks info on it today. Would that be something the boosters could help with?

That would be the AD's job to see it's done. (Not just the athletic content but ALL messages)

I'd bet, he would welcome the opportunity to delegate.
Opportunity for someone to step up?
Charger Pride (as you mentioned in another post) is displayed out there every day for the word to see. Might be one place a group or groups could step up and help out. Very little dollars would have to raised. Would take a time commitment though.
Athletic Boosters; What do you think? Might be worth looking in to.

i think the Athletic Boosters are doing all they can do w/o having one more thing put on their plate.
There is very little support and the same 5-10 people do most of the work.
The AD can handle this, he can get students to do it for him. My brother in law was the previous AD, and while he agreed it was a lot of work, he personally kept the sign up to date. He also taught two very challenging courses while doing so. The AD job is overwhelming if it's done right. It should be expanded or have an assist. added. I think my BIL did a good job but quit b/c it is just too much to do and teach core classes at the same time.
If the BOE could see the mess I saw this past weekend, maybe they'd think more about the importance of this position.
Chatham County does not support athletics the way other systems do. I fear that will not be improving anytime soon. So parents step in to "help". Keyword: HELP. They can't be expected to take on all the tasks.

And as long as we are on the subject of the sign. Once again, the PARENTS paid for that new sign, had the bricks cleaned, new letters and Charger emblem installed. It was several thousand dollars raised by the parents who were tired of seeing that old, dirty, broken down sign represent our kids school. So I think someone at the school can do the part of keeping it up to date. I'm all about supporting my school, physically and financially, but sometimes the other side has to hold up their end of the bargain. Like when the county spends $10,000 to redo a floor, SOMEONE better be taking care of it. Same goes for equipment that is purchased with the hard earned money raised by parents/students. I don't think you're clear, Everett, on just HOW MUCH the Boosters and other athletic parents have done to try to UNDO the situation Northwood has been in for decades. They are struggling for support. Running the Boosters is practically a full time job for a couple of the people involved. To suggest one more thing is just insulting. Unless of course, you are volunteering to do it yourself. If that's the case the number at the school is 542 4181. Wanda can put you in touch with Chandler Gray, our AD and he can put you to work on it. Thanks.

DKEMOM,
Sorry, did not suggest something be looked into to be insulting. If it was, please accept my apology.
Don’t want to “boil the ocean” and attack decades old issues. My post was a question about the sign. It touched a nerve. Seems easy to do here. A lot of nerves are raw and exposed.
I was looking to see if a discussion could be started about someone else other than the AD willing to help out with sign. Or, at least ideas about who might like to volunteer.
Does not have to be the Athletic Boosters. I was just asking them, because the sign has a good deal of athletic content and my first thought was that was a good fit for a booster club. You thought I was being insulting for not knowing what I don’t know. Got it. Again, sorry, no evil intentions or slinging mud was present in my post.
I’ll start a new NHS sign thread. Maybe we can flush out some interest that will result in something positive happening. We can still hope can’t we?

Had a good Booster Club meeting last night, the 4 officers and the AD and 3 parents. Sad turnout if you ask me. But got alot accomplished and still need LOTS of help.
Yes, the concession stand will need help for this Friday's game. And I hope the minutes get posted on the website today as I sent them to be done. If not, I can post here too.
Bricks are for sale a great way for Boosters to make money, right now they have sold ONLY 6 and need 25 to make an order. Please visit the website to order. Basketball concessions will also need help as soon as they start playing. Thanks for all you do already for the Northwood Athletic Booster Club.
