Hi there.

I have written my first DonorsChoose grant request.  My students would greatly benefit from these notebooks.  Please visit my grant and consider contributing a few dollars.  I'd like to be able to have these notebooks in use before Christmas break!   Thanks for your help.

SVO notebooks

Next year, my classroom hours from the PTA Thrift Shop can be used, but for now I am relying on "the kindness of strangers".

Thanks!

I'm bumping this.

Come on guys.   $10.00  each?

Challenge. (I swear this is the last one)  If VA says it's a good idea, then I'm in.

How does this grant company get the money to the teacher?  Or the notebooks?

The notebooks should be on their way soon, Miss Tori.  angel

The way is works is that Donorschoose, which is the granting organization, has deals with specific vendors (there are tons). The teacher posts her/his project then "shops" for materials. When the grant is funded Donorschoose then sends the materials to the teacher.
The benefit of Donorschoose is that it's a national organization, so it's possible to get funding from all over the place. My last grant (for computer microphones - thanks to everyone who funded!) was funded by people on this board, friends and relatives of mine, and someone I don't know from NYC. I have co-workers who've had their grants funded by UNC Sororities or even sports teams that have to do a certain amount of community service.
The more a teacher can get the word out the faster these mini grants get funded.
You all are super!

Wow, this community is amazing!

I was going to remove the post, thinking maybe people didn't believe that a simple material like a notebook could be so important. And voila, you fulfilled my grant.  Thank you!

I'm teaching the students how to make the word maps this week.  When the notebooks arrive, we'll be ready to build our personal picture dictionaries.

The community support here is one of the many reasons why I'm so satisfied with my decision to come teach in Chatham County.

Thanks again for helping teachers and everyone's children!
