oh, yes, I did read it.

there is no elective version, like, ask a doctor to do it. no that does not happen, it is an emergency thing, usually everyone heartbroken. why jail the doctor, or let the fertile adult female die? that is against all common law and common sense.

yes, thats pretty much what I already said I agreed with.  you're quibbling over one little thing I said when I essentially agree with you.

I know, the thread was about the fact Obama voted  against it. that is exactly why he did, and any sane person would have to. they allowed no case for saving the mother's life. it was a cold, calculated piece of legislation.

and like I think I said, although not in so many words, is that decision does not mean he lacks compassion for babies as sofa king is accusing him, it just means he has compassion for mothers and families whose babies are unfortunately deformed.

Did it make you feel good to tell me what to do?  Can we at least be civil about this or are you incapable?

Thank you for the link, I appreciate you finding that for me.  I learned something new today.
this is another example of persons pretending to be polite, while actually being very rude.

" But thanks for trying to pigeon hole me anyway." whine.

I did not do that.

I never told you what to do. I did suggest you read some literature. if you have never heard this procedure called by its proper name, then you are just ignorant, and I apologise.

BTW I never met anyone truly from the mountains who called themselves a hillbilly. quite the opposite. they may have owned land there, or lived there for a time, but never had family long time there.

Actually, you did do that
Quote
just calling it that, partial birth, tells me how you feel, so there is little point even getting into it.

That response from you was what got us off on the wrong foot.  Yes, it is true I didn't know the medical term for it...so what?  I actually do understand the procedure itself as well as the moral dilemna surrounding it.  As it turns out we actually agree on this issue.

As for me being rude...I find that ironic coming from you.  I've read a lot of your posts, and I wouldn't exactly put you in the "nice" category when it comes to responding to people you disagree with.

As for whether or not I'm actually from the mountains...the answer is yes.  My family has lived there for 5 generations.  Hillbilly is just a nickname I got in engineering school as a joke.  I have a bit of a country accent and they thought it was funny when I was describing something really technical...the dichotomy amused them I guess.

Hillbilly I am sure you have learned by now that when Belle, girlfrompbo and vaheel feel cornered and threatened they tend to gang up on others. You will also find they do not like those that disagree with their radical liberal views. God forbid you bring up racism, quality of schools or teachers, they will really jump all over you.

I am glad you have joined the BBS. I have found your posts refreshing. Continue on with the good work.

You act like we gang up on people and attack them personally.  We do sometimes all three agree with each other and participate in a conversation at the same time.  I don't consider that ganging up on people.

I will accept criticism for sometimes losing my temper and posting a rude comment. Sometimes I do that, and I am trying to stop.  However I don't think belle deserves that same criticism.

I am not a radical liberal and whether or not I "like" people has nothing to do with whether they agree with me but rather how they discuss the issue.  I like snowcamper, and he and I couldn't disagree more often.  Still he is thoughtful, intelligent and polite.  Similarly I like Wolfpackfan. I have even been known to offer a "good point" to christianhusbandfather although I won't pretend the man doesn't make my blood boil.

I'd like to point out that YOU are the one going off-topic in order to belittle people and make things personal.  I don't know if you are trying to provoke someone into a petty argument or just intimidate someone out of the conversation, but YOU are the one doing it. Not belle, not me, not VAHeel.

furthermore speaking for myself I have never one time felt "cornered" or "threatened" by anyone on this bbs.  This is the internet, not a dark alley.

I would just like to hear a single "radical liberal view" that I hold.  I don't think there are any.  If my perspective is that far off, I would certainly like to have it pointed out.

I certainly can't remember ever feeling cornered or threatened.  Usually, it's more like being in a knife fight with a one armed man.  The most memorable come back I can remember from Silk Hope is something along the lines of "nuh-uh!"

Once again Heel you have a very insightful and great post. I am not going to waste this beautiful day searching 200+ pages of posts to prove my point, it is not worth it. Also, I find your post saying that I said Nuh-Uh to be completely in line with the quality of your other posts. I am so glad another County has the joy and honor of having a teacher that constantly posts comments during the day on the BBS when they should be concentrating on educating students.
