I received a recorded message from the Chatham County Coalition for Home Ownership asking me to vote against the Land Transfer Tax.  I don't find the group when I "google" the name.  Does anyone know who this group is?  It appears that someone is trying to confuse people into thinking that the Chatham Coalition is asking to vote no on the issue.

There are many groups of Chatham county homeowners trying to defend themselves against this tax increase.

I don't object to people getting together and support a cause they believe in and trying to get others to believe it, but I do object to the similarity of the name to the Chatham Coalition.  It seems like a deliberate attempt to confuse people.

That's interesting you say that - I am involved with this group and people keep telling us - DON'T use Coalition! But it is absolutely a Coalition of many folks from many groups and the name is simply appropriate.

I wasn't involved in naming it - but I don't get the impression that was the intent at all.

I am sorry you were annoyed PJJ.

But I have to say that these types of calls are a popular political tool and we are thankful to have this ability.

I wish there was a "do not call list" for registered voters, but I am afraid there isn't.

As the recipient of one their calls, you can tell them from me that they really *really* screwed up in their naming.  If it wasn't a deliberate attempt to be confusing, then it was one of the stupidest moves they could have made -- any possible hope they might have had of swaying me vanished with the similarity of names.  It comes across as either sheer arrogance or total incompetency.

Keith -

Please, was there every ANY possible hope that you might have been swayed regardless of waht anyone might say?

The contrived indignation rings hollow.

I haven't voted yet, and I am open-minded enough to listen to facts and data, but I expect them to be delivered in an open and aboveboard manner.
