This offer is GONE PERMANENTLY!

I've got a 17" eMachines "Flatscreen style" CRT monitor (just as bulky as usual, but the screen itself is flat, so you can pretend it's an LCD until you have to move it). For the record, CRT monitors are the big ugly heavy kind.

This one is an eView 17f2. VGA input only, weighs only about half as much as a Smartcar Wink (though it's a wee bit smaller), but if the specs on CNet are to be believed, it's able to go pretty high in terms of refresh rates (120Hz IIRC) although I've never tried that.

It's not a widescreen. Too old and not LCDish enough Wink This thing is from about 2006. Not heavily used!

I don't want it, and I'd sooner see someone haul it off to a new home then to have to put it in the eWaste Bin at the local collection center. Anyone interested can email me at laserhawk64@gmail.com to make arrangements to pick it up. BUT: on Monday 13 Jan, if it's not been claimed, it goes in the eWaste bin...

You sure know how to sell a product, don't you?

I have no need or want of such a device, but I hope it can find a good home to live out its remaining days.

I hope it finds a good home, too Smiley

As for selling... no formal training or anything, just hoping I made it sound nice enough for someone to want to grab it.

I'm good friends with a competitor of his and my understanding is that there's just not much demand for these any more Sad Lee would probably trash it -- particularly because, I'm told, the local IT recycler guy for businesses does not accept CRT monitors for recycling. (I find that to be a rather shameful fact, but there's nothing to be done about it -- just like there's nothing to be done about the hundreds of pounds of perfectly good old hardware ending up recycled every week because of a few viruses or "it's more than three months old, you should upgrade" or the like.)

For now I'd prefer not to name the competitor, since I've neither asked for nor been given that person's permission to spread their name everywhere in connection with me. (That said, if you know me IRL, you almost certainly know who it is.)

I'm just hoping that there's one or two people left in the county who can use this thing and that they happen across my post before Monday. Not likely -- but possible. It's hope, ya know? Wink

Donate it to the Habitat ReStore store.  I think they'll still take them as long as they work.

Can't really get there. I don't drive (never learned, for a couple of very good reasons) and while I could haul it via Chatham Transit, it would be very inconvenient and I can't really justify spending even that kind of money on that monitor just to get rid of it. I really don't see them driving this far (I'm in Siler) just to pick up an old screen, and even if they were willing to, I'd feel mighty bad asking them to do that.

I might put it in the Swap Shop at the local collection center, rather than the eWaste bin, since it's in great condition except for being a little old... hopefully a note on the front will be enough to deter people from cutting the video cord off...

Had a login issue so I couldn't update this.

It is gone to the dump. Hopefully they will recycle it, which is /slightly/ better than trashing it. /Only/ slightly -- look up the Wikipedia entry on Guiyu, Guangdong Province, China if you want to know what I'm talking about. Their EPA is not as good as ours (if they have one) and so the damage is worse there, but the point remains...
