Obama and Leslie Macko - drug felon -

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/07/29/gibbs-wed-known-conviction-woman-wouldnt-stood-obama/
Obama has a woman with drug fraud conviction standing beside him telling the world she needs unemployment benefits. She was standing beside the President, at one point hold hands with him, and all took place without a security clearance.
Gibbs says had we known, she probably wouldn't have been there!
And these folks are in charge of the government!!

Sans security clearance?
Yah, that's what they say.
I suspect they knew exactly who and what she was. There are other guardians besides the Secret Service here who are not about to let an unchecked unknown stand next to the Messiah without a background proctological.
This is him and his merry band of thugs thumbing their noses at normal Americans' antiquated notions of hard work and fair play, the very things they despise.

Here's another link to the facts:
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/local/blogs/local-opinion-zone/Obama-unemployment-news-conference-featured-Va-woman-convicted-of-drug-fraud-99574469.html
This isn't some remarkable incident. Every administration makes mistakes in vetting people, and bigger ones than this one. This is just another gotcha. Remember that New York police guy who was almost appointed to head the police program in Iraq? It just happens from time to time, and it's not a function of the Obama Administration's special incompetence, which is the implication of this post.
I suspect they knew exactly who and what she was.
Yeah, right. They knew and were sending secret signals to the felon population who supports the Obama Administration by 99 to 1. Oh wait, felons can't vote. I know! They knew she was a felon and were just pulling the right wingers chains on this. But why would they bother--Obama just being a black guy does that job wonderfully, as we see every minute of every live long day. Ok, two strikes. Just what would be the reason to put that person up there knowing she was a felon, and knowing that fact would be discovered almost instantly by the media?

The reality is that nobody should get close to a sitting President without know everything there is to know about them.

That's not and never will be the "reality." It might be the ideal.

But when you're invited?? He didn't just pull her off the street and I doubt she was touring the White House! The two uninvited guests for a dinner were not felons, and if I am not mistaken, some heads rolled on that one for not following proper procedures for security clearances.
I would think they better bump it up from being an "ideal" situation. It being a matter of national security comes under mandatory.

What's your point? The Administration agrees with you that a mistake was made. Mistakes get made, people being people. They admitted they made a big mistake last week when they caused Mrs. Sherrod to be fired. Heavens, two in one week!
Maybe you should vote for the other brand in November. Just keep in mind that the other brand started a whole two wars which were unnecessary and failed in their stated (if ever changing goals), at a price of thousands of American lives (the only ones that count when we tally the costs up, apparently). The other brand has a record. Take your pick. If you base it on this laughably tiny mistake, that's your choice too. Rah rah rah for you. I only bothered to comment on this because it's a good example of gratuitous criticism which has, as its only end, building the general case that "our current President sure gets criticized a lot, so he much be bad." But you already knew that before this silly post, didn't you.
Maybe we need to start a thread compiling these examples. We could call it The Right Wing Hamster Wheel. Maybe Gene would just deposit all such threads as this one into the general category "Hamster Wheel." It'd make the board more entertaining.

Would you still be talking like it was nothing if during the dinner that 2 people got into without anybody knowing a damned thing about or this nice lady would have put a hole in his head.
Somebody needs to be replaced in that WH. Before he gets killed too many people are getting too close to who is for now our President.

I agree it was a mistake. Re the idiots at the dinner, the person in charge of that got fired. She was a good friend of Michelle's no less, as I recall. The person in question in this case was charged with "drug fraud." As she was in the medical profession, my guess would be she got some drugs under false pretenses, or maybe sold some meds. Anyway, she was convicted, spent a year on probation, is apparently now done with that. Who should be fired for this dreadful error? If it's a person who has done a good job for the Administration, should they be fired because of this one mistake? Have they been fired already? Is the firing in the works even as we speak?
As a bit of news story, it is what it is. We didn't fire Bush for starting two wars and messing both of them up. Apparently the standards in the US are pretty low. Maybe if we apply your standards there won't be anyone left who's qualified? All I'm saying is, there's a whole lot of "Obama criticism" that amounts to stuff like this, and as far as I can tell its primary goal isn't to encourage a better Administration, but to do what I said before--create the general impression amongst "low information" voters that the Administration is not competent.
There is this other point, by the way. Doesn't this person, who had paid her debt, deserve a job? There doesn't appear, at this distance, to be any sort of threat from the person. She basically is guilty of the same thing Limbaugh was guilty of. He just got off with rehab, which clearly didn't take in any event.

Good you realize it was a mistake - one that could have been of major proportions.
FYI - Just so you know, you have to have security clearance now to even tour the White House. So, how does a felon end up holding hands with the President? A royal screw-up. I don't know if anyone has or will be fired. Maybe she was a friend of Michelle's too for all I know. Does not change the fact. I am surprised you are so understanding and so willing to let bygone mistakes go without consequences. I am all for people being given second chances - just not Obama/Biden/Pelosi in their current positions.
Voting for another brand in November - that is a given.
Why do you get so defensive about critcism of Obama, but you never fail to remind us how sorry Bush was? Don't you think it is time to get a new argument on why we should keep the current administration? Too, when Bush was in office and he made the "messes" you allege, where was Obama? Was he not in Washington voting on these matters? Whatever Obama inherited, mine and your current President had a hand in it - thus what he inherited is partly due to himself. Yes, I will admit Obama inherited it a mess, but the problem is, it has become so much messier. You may not have to worry about your children and grandchildren and on down the line paying back this debt we have incurred - but I do. Any person who can be so bold and say they are not are lying through their teeth.
I will gladly take a right wing hamster wheel. Based on Obama/Pelosi/and many more -he needs something larger - more like a ferris wheel.
Silly post? No more so than your one-liners and tunnel vision.

Beel, do you remember saying this:
lax attitudes make accidents much more likely.
If not, look in the thread about the Gulf oil spill.
I rest my case regarding Leslie Macko standing beside our President.

he's using Bush as a distraction the the fact that some idiot working for the WH screwed the pooch big time on this one and needs a new job. His problem is that the screw ups are piling up and he sees it too.

I'm sorry, but Rx fraud is not a violent crime and does not endanger the country. this woman was no danger to Obama or anyone else.
she may not have been the shiny dime the WH should find in the dust, but it was not on the order of damaging a blow-out preventer, ignoring your engineers, and putting a million people out of work for a year, and polluting the Gulf of Mexico's seafood nurseries.

I don't care if she took alka-seltzer off the rack at walmart - she is a convicted felon.
For all they know - she could have been a mass murderer - since no security check had been done. That is the point - she COULD have been!!

Didn't stop him from appearing on The View. I would think that would not have been a priority either - inappropriate timing. But of course, and mind you, this is
MY
opinion, there is a great deal of things happening in Washington that is inappropriate.
