Set design & production has taken over the drama classroom, and those New York guys & dolls are moving into the Benjamin J. Lee Auditorium for the month to prepare for the exciting Northwood Spring Musical full of music, dancing, romance, and nefarious shenanigans.
   Join us this Thursday, March 11 at 7pm for the NHS Arts Education Foundation General Meeting in the auditorium. Meet the cast, learn about this year's Friday night Dinner Theatre option, and get a sneak preview along with background on this landmark show and composer Frank Loesser.
   We'll also have news about the rest of our Gala Season—concerts, exhibits,and a first-ever All-County Chorus performance coming to NHS!

For those who missed the meeting on Thursday night, a few items of interest—

• Our next major fundraiser is the Havana Dinner, in conjunction with the NHS Spring Musical production of Guys & Dolls. Dinner will be served before the show Friday, March 26 from 5:30 to 6:45 and tickets are available online at http://www.SeatYourself.biz/northwood Tickets are $24 and include a ticket to the show. In order to provide the caterer with a final count in advance, sales will end on Tuesday, March 26.
• For the coming year, 2010-2011, we are currently accepting nominations for the following advisory board positions: Secretary, Parent Liaison, and Community Liaison. If you are interested in working with NHSAEF in the coming year, please contact Gina Harrison or Dr. Lori Carlin.
• Chatham County Schools will be holding their first ever All-County Choral Concert on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 7pm in the Benjamin J. Lee Auditorium at Northwood. High school choral students from Chatham Central, Jordan-Matthews, and Northwood will all participate. Special guests include the Village Voices and the Harmony Grits from Fearrington, directed by Matt Fry, who is also the choral director at Jordan-Matthews. Guest clinician and conductor will be Dr. Dan Huff, from UNC with accompanist Dr. Frank Pittman, from Meredith.  At UNC, Dr. Huff is the area head for music education and director of the Men's Glee Club. Dr. Pittman currently serves as President of the NC Music Teacher's Association.
• NHSAEF Scholarship applications for our 5 $1000 awards [for achievements in Choral Music, Dance, Instrumental Music, Theatre Arts, and Visual Arts] will be available April 19 in the NHS Guidance Office.
• The next general meeting of the NHSAEF will be held in May in conjunction with the NorthwoodArts Departmental Awards Night, TBD. The public is cordially invited to attend.
