So how do you feel about this Healthcare Bill? Is it what you wanted, don't want or don't know.

didn't want in any way, shape or form.

... going to the store to buy some teabags.

For goodness sakes, contact your House members... we have one more chance to stop this insane policy... when they vote after reconcilliation.

Yikes, here we go again. Just a passing thought, but you might want to pick another symbol for your protest.  Cool

Amazing there are no responses to this. I must conclude that nobody likes this bill and it is just another example of the government ramming something down our throats that does nothing but cause more regulation, provides favors and increases pork spending and taxes.

I didn't want it and don't like any of it.   But what I really hate is.

-"Cadillac" plans being taxed at 40%, which is higher than the ordinary income tax rate. But some how union employees are exempt from this tax.

-The bribes to get it passed.   Nebraska doesn't have to pay for the expansion of medicare?   What kind of BS is that?   So now NC has to pay its share plus 1/50 more for them.

-the $750 fine is $7000 to small for people who do not purchase insurance.   People are going to pay the fine then jump into the pool if they get sick since we are making it illegal to discriminate based on pre-existing conditions.

-The Senate bill imposes new taxes on drug manufacturers (this year), medical device makers.   Since when has taxing something made something cheaper?

I don't understand why the taxes start 4 years before the benefits.

I also don't like how the government has massaged the cost numbers.  They say it will cost 800B for the next 10 years, but benefits will only be paid for 6 of those 10 years.  You can only do this trick once, so the next 10 years, it will cost 1.3T if their numbers are anywhere close, which I doubt.

Lets see, Belle wanted a healthcare bill to keep people from bankruptcy due to medical bills, the bill does not do that. MamaCee wanted the bill so she wont go broke from bills and to get care for her family, this does not do that however the bill will allow her to buy insurance. If you don't buy insurance you will be fined and jailed. The Democrats sold out to the insurance industry, created more taxes and increased entitlement programs. Definitely change we can believe in.

This bill and the way it passed are a disgrace and the epitome of everything that's wrong with Washington.

There are plenty of ways to improve healthcare in this country but none of those were on the table because they don't fit into the current political agenda.

It's a shame how much time and effort has been wasted on this fiasco.  I just hope it doesn't make it all the way or we'll be in this recession for a very long time.

I find it funny that the left leaning BBS members are very quiet about this whole disaster, I think many of us would like to hear their take on this bill.

Did it ever occur to you that we might be wanting to spend time with our family over Christmas rather than futilely arguing with you on the bulletin board?
Is the Senate Health Care bill what I would prefer, no, I prefer the House version with a public option.  Is it better than what we have now?  By millions of times better, counting the people who will be able to have healthcare that don't have it now and the security it will give all of us.  In regards to saying it will cost more after the first ten years, you are incorrect, as it (Senate bill) is projected to still bring down the deficit after the first ten years.  Would we all be better off to have a single payer system (the best way to bring costs down)? Yes, but that is not what most people want so we have to settle for second best.  Depending on the final configuration of the bill, we should all have insurance that will not depend on the vagaries of bottom-line insurance companies as to who can get medical insurance and not be afraid that they will drop you if you get an expensive disease.  Some of the benfits will start right away and others will be phased in.  So how about giving it a try and see how it works before naysaying everything.  Nothing ever starts out perfectly and we will learn as we go as to what what works best and adjust as we go.  I believe we all agree we can't go on as we are now.  I agree that some greedy, power hungry Senators made deals that aren't in the best interests of the country, but just for themselves or their portion of the country.  I also believe that the Republicans are being totally partisan in naysaying everything even if it was something they proposed previously themselves so there is blame all around.  If anyone wants me to vote for term limits, I'll be happy too, especially for Lieberman.

1.  Which benefits start right away?

2.  The problem with the "giving Washington a chance" approach is that they do not have a good track record of fixing problems or ending bad programs once they get started.

The Democrats sold out to the insurance industry

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that a couple of Democrats and all 40 Republicans sold out to the insurance industry in trashing the public option.
