Video of November's Woods Charter School Board MeetingAs many of you know, I am constantly looking for ways to improve communications and getting more information out to the public.
I am well aware that many school age parents can not make it to school board meetings. But they certainly would like to know what goes on at these meetings.
Chatham County schools does a good job publishing extensive minutes of their school board meetings. You can find them on the school system's web site.
As secretary of the Woods Charter School Board I am trying to improve our school board meeting minutes “so that a person not in attendance would have a reasonable understanding of what transpired. Such accounts may be a written narrative, or video or audio recordings.” G.S. § 143-318.10(e).
With our school board members working together for the good of the Woods Community I am sure the Woods School Board will get to that point.
It is neat that North Carolina's Open Meetings Law allows anyone to take notes, and/or make video and/or audio recordings of public meetings.
Working within the spirit of that law I video recorded the November Woods Charter School Board meeting and have posted it on the web. Now Woods parents and community can see and hear what went on at the school board meeting.
I have split up the school board meeting video into 20 minute "bite-size" segments. You can find them at
