I assume that picture of Palin was made with her knowledge. If they didn't have permission to use her picture then she has a right to complain. If they did, she has no business complaining. As to their choice to use that picture, I agree that it is sexist.
The picture was taken for "runners world". As I understand, these picture were taken with the understanding that they were for runner's world only.
Interesting note:
"..in an editorial note, Runner's World writes, quote, "Runner's World did not provide Newsweek with the image. Instead, it was provided to Newsweek by the photographer's stock agency without Runner's World knowledge or permission."

Let's review what it was I said that you think justifies your calling me a bigot.
The fact is quite sufficient to justify the charge.
Not by a long shot. You and your party have a track record of suppressing women's rights and your attempt to smear liberals with being misogynistic will never pass the smell test. Where were you when I was out working for passage of the equal rights amendment? Maybe you were sitting in a pew praying for divine enlightenment. Or, maybe you were just out mouthing off to everyone in earshot about how women had no business trying to be your equal.
I think everything that you have posted here about how women should not earn equal pay for doing the same job that men do pretty well tells everyone how you really feel about the equality of women. So you and Backward Beel Junior with your feeble attempts to try and paint liberals as anti-female just ring hollow.
Time for you to get back to Beck, Limbaugh and Coulter and try to dredge up a talking point you can use that can't be so easily dismissed by your previous anti-female postings.

It was your posting that was bigoted. That is a simple fact. It stands alone as quite sufficient proof of your feelings.
Giving something a pretty name does not mean it does something good. The E.R.A. was like that. My own grandmother campaigned against it as a reduction of her rights. She opposed it with every fiber of her being, because she valued her status as a woman and wanted to protect it from people like you.

You can can yammer all you want and make false accusations about bigotry, but it is you who is the misogynist here. Your comment about grandma says it all.

the flag is never to be used as bunting or draperies. she should have that thing on a proper pole, or wall mounted. or have used bunting if she just wanted the color contrast.
she is no Girl Scout, for sure.

Yikes. You're right, shooter. That's a pretty cavalier use of the flag as a prop, isn't it.

Palin was wrong to use the flag in this way. I can admit when a conservative makes a mistake. Can you point out 1 Obama mistake without bursting into flames? Please stand away from children if you attempt this.

This bulletin board is a lot more pleasant if you don't get so ego-involved. It isn't a tennis match. You aren't Sarah Palin and no one here is Obama. I keep saying that I've never seen any group in which everyone believes exactly the same thing.
What she does with a flag has nothing to with your beliefs or integrity. We understand that. There is no "gotcha" aimed at you in a comment we make about a photograph.

Unfortunately, Palin didn't object to the flag being displayed that way. I'm sure some of the folks at Runner's World share part of the responsibility as well. Bad choices on both counts.
There are many American symbols that are sacrosanct, but it doesn't stop people from twisting them. The Presidential Seal is just one of them but it isn't as sacred as our flag.

On that I wholly agree. Thank you.

Sorry Claude, but your words speak for themselves.
For the record, I'm not trying to paint "liberals" as anti-female. I'm just saying that YOUR comment specifically was a bit misogynistic. That's all.

Well, as usual, you are wrong. You shouldn't let your personal animosity toward me blind you to the facts. Suggesting that your political party picked a brainless beauty instead of one of the many far more qualified women in your party can in no way be construed as anti-female. It speaks to the shallowness of what the grand old party has become.
You and your tag team partner chrstnhsbndbser are always looking for a way to twist the truth so you can make it into a personal attack. And, frankly, I'm sick to death of it.

Claude, I agree 100%. When they start losing on the facts the personal attacks start. I'm sort of struck by the whole argument, I remember seeing the photograph in Runner's World and thinking nothing of it. Running clothes, big deal, I've seen more skin at races and didn't think a thing of it. It takes a sad repressive mind to look at that cover and find anything sexual about. If this is such a big deal why weren't Republicans ranting when the media was showing pictures of Bush in his running and biking clothes? I understand the tactic, try to marginalize women from the Democratic party and then pray for the best in 2012, but it's a ffffaaaarrrr... stretch. On the positive side, the best thing that could happen to the Democrats is if the Republican party does run Palin.
