Hi everyone, we had a large brown male dog show up at our house this morning.  He's wearing an underground fence collar, but doesn't seem to have any ID.  He's really friendly.  We have an underground fence, so I think he's afraid to try to leave now.  We live on Rabbit Run, off of Mt. Gilead Church Road.  If he belongs to you, please give us a call, 919.533.3029.

Hi Beth,

Have you put up some found posters or called the animal shelter 542-7203 with a "found" report?
You don't have to take him to the shelter to file a report.
You could also take him to a vet clinic to be scanned for a microchip.
Maybe that would help.  Also, call the various vet clinics to see if they might have a lost poster/report
that could be a match.

Done most of the above except had him scanned for a chip.  I'm going to call the animal shelter again tomorrow.  We've been to several neighborhoods around talking to people, but no one seems to know him.

Is he neutered?  Some dogs lose their tags.  If he is neutered, he might have a microchip.
Any vet clinic can scan him for free.
You could look through the craigslist lost and found section, and also www.petfinder.com.
You might want to check the Orange County shelter, and maybe Durham or Wake too.
He could have been lost for awhile, or maybe escaped from a car, etc.

Go to www.lostapet.org  and look at their dog posters under the "recovery tips" section.
Under the same section, look at "I found a Stray Dog"  has some good suggestions.
Placing some posters at a few intersections might get you a few tips.
Also, check the Bulletin Boards at grocery stores, etc.
It seems like someone should be looking for this guy if he has an invisible fence collar on....
